Sky Watch Friday

Hey these are some shots of the July 4th Celebration here in Mississippi. While doing this post, I got curious about fireworks and found some great information on the history of them here!
Did you know they orginated in China during the Han Dynesty (200 B.C.)? That is crazy considering that gunpowder was not discovered until at least 600 A.D. Again, the Chinese during the Sui and Tang dynasties! If you have time today or over the weekend you should go by a read about it at the link above! It is not too long but great info!

For more Skywatch click the link! If you have never been a part of this event, you got to check it out! Tom, Dot, Sandy and others have started a spectacular way for you to travel around the world in just a few minutes. I promise you will not be disappointed! It officially starts at 19:30 hours GMT. For all you fellow Americans, that is 01:30 P.M. Central Time! If that makes no sense to you just go there now!

Hey FTP, nice pictures of the fireworks!
Now in my book they are both visual pollution and aural pollution when it comes to the beauty of the sky. [:-)]
My friend calls them light pollution as well!

Good fireworks shots are hard to get. Good work.
The ancient Chinese had a very sophisticated civilization. They built and sailed the largest ships in the world in the 1400's. Then they chose to turn away from the outside world. They are just now coming back. (The Post American World by Fareed Zakaria)

The only time I can think of anyone not liking fireworks is when they are in the hands of someone that does not know what they are doing. It's against the law here for anyone other that certain park officials. They are dangerous, but beautiful.

Beautiful sets of fireworks. Yes, I loved firecrackers and used to play with them during my childhood. But it was soon banned in Singapore because of the dangers that comes with firecrackers. It causes fire and hurt to people. My two teenage sons did not
