Hey these are some shots of the July 4th Celebration here in Mississippi. While doing this post, I got curious about fireworks and found some great information on the history of them here!
Did you know they orginated in China during the Han Dynesty (200 B.C.)? That is crazy considering that gunpowder was not discovered until at least 600 A.D. Again, the Chinese during the Sui and Tang dynasties! If you have time today or over the weekend you should go by a read about it at the link above! It is not too long but great info!
For more Skywatch click the link! If you have never been a part of this event, you got to check it out! Tom, Dot, Sandy and others have started a spectacular way for you to travel around the world in just a few minutes. I promise you will not be disappointed! It officially starts at 19:30 hours GMT. For all you fellow Americans, that is 01:30 P.M. Central Time! If that makes no sense to you just go there now!

The ancient Chinese had a very sophisticated civilization. They built and sailed the largest ships in the world in the 1400's. Then they chose to turn away from the outside world. They are just now coming back. (The Post American World by Fareed Zakaria)
now these are some spectacular firework photos!
yes, the chinese were very developed in many regards... artificial fire is just one of them
...and the rockets red glare. The bombs bursting in air.... Great photos. Pappy

The only time I can think of anyone not liking fireworks is when they are in the hands of someone that does not know what they are doing. It's against the law here for anyone other that certain park officials. They are dangerous, but beautiful.
